Komatsu Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Komatsu") won the Excellent Design Award in the "2024 Excellent Design Award" (※ 1) operated by the Japan Design Promotion Association, a non-profit foundation. The leveling machine "GD955-7" and the electric micro excavator "PC01E-2" were awarded the Excellent Design Award. This is Komatsu winning the Excellent Design Award for four consecutive years. In addition, the flatbed machine "GD955-7" has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Excellent Designs" (※ 2). Being selected for the Top 100 Excellent Designs is Komatsu's first achievement. Moreover, in the exhibition "One of My Selected Products" (※ 3) selected by the Excellent Design Award Review Committee, the panel of GD955-7 and the actual machine of PC01E-2 are scheduled to be exhibited.

The large flatbed machine that won this award is mainly used for runway preparation of dump trucks in mining and other sites. In January of this year, as an improved machine released after a 30-year hiatus, the design of GD955-7 not only improves the safety required for mining sites, but also demonstrates a sense of strength and stability through its appearance, pursuing ease of use for customers such as operability, comfort, and maintenance. In this award, these points also received high praise.
